Age: 16
Crime: Murder of Peter Parker
Background: Wiki link here!
Personality: In Gwen Stacy's sixteen years of life, she's been through a lot. To start with, she lost her mom when she was young, leaving her to be raised by her father, Captain George Stacy. She loves her father dearly, and looks up to him and his role as a police captain. It's his influence and encouragement to do good in the world that leads to her becoming Spider-Woman after she's bit by a radioactive spider and gains superpowers.
Gwen's family and friends are very important to her. She would do anything to protect them, and shows this frequently. She would stand up to Ned, when he messed with Peter. When her dad showed up at fights with super villains, she would web him to walls to keep him from getting caught in the mix of a fight. It's the fact of how important they are to her that makes the loss of Peter so devastating to her. After losing Peter, she became a recluse, keeping to herself mostly, in an effort not to lose anyone else. She even pulled away from MJ, Betty, and Glory, her fellow bandmates. It wasn't until she was thrown into another dimension and met Miles and the other spider-people that she started to open up again to the idea of friends. Bonding with people like her, people that knew what it was like to deal with the powers they were given, and the sacrifice it took to do what needed to be done. Miles especially was able to get past her walls. It didn't take long for her to put her all into fighting for these new friends, even being willing to sacrifice herself to stay behind so the rest could get back home.
Gwen is very smart. Like all the spider-person, she's awkward and nerdy, tripping over her words, making jokes, and saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. She attends the Visions Academy of her world, an elite boarding school for gifted students. Her talents lie in science, giving her the ability to create her own webbing, and the shooters designed to shoot it.
Gwen is a free spirit. While she is very smart and excels academically, she also doesn't stick to societal norms. She tends to style herself more along the punk style, with leather jackets. She has her eyebrow pierced, and while she doesn't get the buzz cut until Miles accidentally rips her hair, she likes it enough that she keeps it going forward in the series. She's also part of a punk band called the Mary Janes, playing the drums for it. Even with all this, George is very supportive of his daughter, encouraging her hobbies, frequently asking about her band and encouraging her likes.
Even with father, Gwen tends to bottle up her emotions. After losing Peter, she closed herself off to friends, but she also couldn't share half of herself with anyone. Being Spider-Woman meant she had to keep the secret from everyone, including her father that was actively hunting Spider-Woman. It causes a lot of friction with her dad, when they argue about Spider-Woman, since he sees her as a murderer that needs to be arrested. While she opens up with Miles and the others about what she's gone through, this is only temporary, as she goes back home and is back to not being able to share her other side with anyone. Drumming is one of her outlets, allowing her to put her emotions into playing.
Abilities: Gwen was bitten by a radioactive spider, giving her enhanced abilities that follows:
- super strength: she's much stronger than a typical human, able to lift 10 tons in weight, as well as being incredibly resilient, able to take hits and damage that would be life ending to anyone else.
- super agility: not only is she faster than the typical human, but Gwen is able to move and react quickly and gracefully, with the added bonus of her training as a dancer. She's also able to go places others can't, as she's able to cling to surfaces and climb walls and ceilings. She's frequently seen upside down on monuments and buildings.
- spider-sense: as with all spider people, she's able to sense when danger is present, giving her an alert to avoid and dodge attacks before she even sees them. This sense also allows her to recognize other spider-people, and is what leads her to find Miles.
Apart from her enhanced abilities, Gwen is also known to be a skilled drummer, having played in a band for a few years. She was trained in ballet and gymnastics for an unknown period of time, but these movements and techniques can be seen in her fighting style.
